Membership

Membership into Pine Ridge is a three step process.

1. New Member’s Class
This is a 12-week study covering the foundational tenets of the faith as presented in the Scriptures and understood by Pine Ridge Presbyterian. It is our hope that people aspiring to membership gain a thorough understanding of what Pine Ridge is all about and can joyfully support the direction of the Church’s teaching. The New Member’s class has also proven to be a place where great friendships are started. Meetings are during the Christian Education hour in the library.

2. Interview
Upon completing the New Member’s class, the elders request an interview. This is simply a conversation about your Christian experience and understanding of the faith.

3. Vows of membership
The final step in membership is taking vows before the congregation. These are found in the P.C.A. Book of Church Order:

  • Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope, except in His Sovereign mercy?
  • Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and depend upon Him alone for your salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?
  • Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes a follower of Christ?
  • Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your ability?
  • Do you promise to submit yourself to the government and discipline of the church, and promise to pursue its peace and purity?
  • The leadership at Pine Ridge believes that the Church is the primary means by which Christ is establishing His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven, and invite all God’s people to be a part of this cosmic movement of redemption, restoration, and resurrection.

We invite and encourage current members to attend the New Member’s class at any time in an effort to make new friendships and be refreshed in the vision and purpose of Pine Ridge.
